For Glenn, returning to education was a big step, one that came with uncertainty, but also the potential to change his future.
Encouraged to continue his studies and achieve a degree, Glenn chose University Campus Doncaster. Although the idea of studying again felt daunting, it turned out to be one of the best decisions he made.
“I was encouraged to continue my studies and gain my degree, and Doncaster University Campus was recommended to me,” Glenn explained. “It was pretty daunting as I had tried to study for a degree before; however, the tutors were just amazing.”

One of the things that stood out most to Glenn during his time studying BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies (Top Up) was the level of support available.
“Support was available at the end of an email, phone call or Teams call and was always specific to you,” he said.
This personalised approach helped Glenn build confidence and stay on track throughout his course. He also found the flexibility of learning especially valuable.
“I really liked the way the lectures were recorded so you could go back to them as often as you needed,” he added.
That ability to revisit learning materials made a real difference, allowing Glenn to study at his own pace and fully understand each topic.
Graduating with an Early Childhood Studies Degree
After overcoming his initial doubts and committing to his studies, Glenn achieved something that meant a great deal to him.
“Being able to graduate with a degree was an absolute highlight in my life,” he said.
His success is a testament to his determination and the impact of having the right support system in place.
From Student to Early Years Advisor
Since graduating, Glenn has gone on to build a rewarding career in the early years education sector.
“I’m now working as an advisor for a nursery group, supporting staff with practice, teaching and environments,” he explained.
In his role, Glenn uses the knowledge and skills he developed during his degree to make a real difference, helping improve teaching standards and learning environments for young children.
Reflecting on his experience, Glenn sums it up simply:
