Lecturer Teacher Education

Summary

I am a committed and experienced educator with a passion for lifelong learning and professional development. Having earned my Master’s in Education as an adult learner, I remain a firm advocate for the transformative power of education at every stage in life. My previous work with learners in custodial settings in supporting the development of reading mentors gave me an opportunity to see this in evidence. My current role allows me to share my enthusiasm for teaching while supporting the professional development of others. I am driven by the belief that education can be a powerful force for change, enabling individuals to grow both personally and professionally.

About

I endeavour to use my previous experiences to bring both insight and practical expertise into a diverse range of learning environments and subject specialisms. My work spans mentoring, curriculum design, and classroom observation, all aimed at raising teaching standards and fostering confidence in educators. I am driven by the belief that education is one of the most powerful forces for personal and professional growth. I champion collaborative learning and provide encouragement to support trainees to become authentic reflective practitioners.

Teaching

Over the course of my extensive teaching career, I have held a range of leadership roles, including Deputy Head Teacher, Acting Head Teacher, and Head Teacher. Alongside my school-based experience, I have worked as a University Based Mentor and Tutor. I now serve as a Lecturer, supporting trainee teachers across a variety of subject specialisms as they work toward their PGCE/Cert Ed qualifications. My focus is on helping trainee teachers to further develop their increasingly effective pedagogical and andragogical teaching approaches to maximise learning impact.

Industry Experience

I have considerable experience across the school sector working with serving teachers and postgraduate students, helping to raise standards in teaching, and learning across subject areas through regular classroom observations and personalised mentoring programmes.

It has been a genuinely rewarding experience to support experienced and aspiring educators as they grow in confidence and capability and this formed the main body of work in completing the NPQH qualification. I value the expertise and dedication of subject specialists and strive to work collaboratively with both students and colleagues to create meaningful and engaging learning experiences. Contributing to the success of others continues to be one of the most fulfilling aspects of my work and my main driving force.
