South Yorkshire Institute of Technology – IoT

As a lead provider for the South Yorkshire Institute of Technology (SYIoT), we’re proud to be part of a national network of Institutes of Technology delivering employer-led, high-level training across STEM, creative, and digital industries.

Our courses are designed in collaboration with businesses to give you hands-on experience, technical expertise, and the confidence to thrive in today’s fast-changing job market.

Launched in September 2023, the SYIoT is a partnership between University Campus Doncaster, Sheffield Hallam University, the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre, The Sheffield College, Barnsley College, and RNN Group. Supported by a £290 million government investment, it offers cutting-edge facilities, industry-standard equipment, and career-focused programmes.

From renewable energy training to WorldSkills UK qualification rounds, our SYIoT hub continues to grow, connecting learners with real-world opportunities and helping employers build skilled, diverse, and innovative teams.

Whether you’re starting out, upskilling, or changing direction, the SYIoT is your launchpad to learn, create, and grow.

Flexible, Future-Focused Learning

Qualifications and courses are developed with local and national employers, giving students of all ages the practical skills and technical knowledge needed to stand out in the job market. Employers benefit from training that directly supports their business needs.

SYIoT delivers high-quality training in engineering and manufacturing, construction, digital, healthcare sciences, science and media.

Specialising in Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs), professional training and higher apprenticeships, SYIoT invests in cutting-edge facilities to widen access to higher education. Courses include flexible, bite-size programmes to help people enter, re-enter or progress in employment.

SYIoT offers flexible, affordable qualifications for adults, with many programmes from 2025 supported by the new Lifelong Learning Entitlement and existing funding. Employers can also access apprenticeship funding and advice on options such as the Skills Bank.
