The Access to HE Diploma (Science) will enable you to study a range of units in Biology, Chemistry and Medical Physics.
Students on this pathway are expected to progress to careers in a wide range of science-related professions such as Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, Dental Hygiene & Therapy, Optometry, Forensics, Dietetics, Radiotherapy & Oncology, etc.
This course is completed in one year. You will attend college 2 days and half days per week, and you will need to do a similar amount of independent study in addition to college attendance. This is considered to be a full-time course of study.

- Human Cell Biology
- Biological Control Systems
- Nutrition & Digestion
- Human Respiratory & Cardiac Sys
- Genetics
- Human Immunity
- Atoms, Bonding & Stoichiometry
- Practical Science Project
- Medical Physics
Assessment takes place at regular intervals throughout the course. Units take around 7 weeks to complete with assessment normally taking place at the end of the unit. A range of assessment methods is used including research tasks, structured questions, presentations and in-class tests.
Applicants must have achieved GCSE English and maths at grade C / 4 before starting the course. Equivalent Level 2 qualifications in English and maths may be considered. If you do not hold Level 2 qualifications, please contact us to discuss your options.
