DN Colleges Group is celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Hub this September, marking two decades of learning and skills development in the heart of Doncaster.
Since opening in 2006, The Hub has become an iconic part of the city centre and a key destination for education and training. Built as part of a £65 million development and bringing together the former Waterdale and Church View campuses, the facility has helped widen access to education and opportunities across the region.
Through University Campus Doncaster (UCDON), The Hub has also played a significant role in expanding access to higher education, enabling local students to achieve university-level qualifications and build successful careers without leaving the city.
In a joint statement, Danny Fenwick, Principal, and John Rees, CEO of DN Colleges Group, said:
“We are immensely proud to be celebrating two decades of learning and success at The Hub. In that time, well over a hundred thousand learners have developed their skills and knowledge through further, higher, and apprenticeship programmes here and have taken those skills into the workplace to build successful careers. We are excited about the opportunities the next twenty years will bring to our city and its communities.”
Celebrating 20 Years
To mark the milestone, The Hub will host a special birthday celebration on 16 September, featuring cake, games, and activities for students and staff.
Doncaster College will also be sharing stories and achievements from the past two decades. Former students will be invited to share their memories and success stories, while celebrations will also include a visit from the local celebrity ‘The Don’, a pop-up museum on campus with pieces of Doncaster College history, and videos featuring current students sharing their aspirations for the next 20 years.
Looking Ahead
Home to more than 780 courses and the South Yorkshire Institute of Technology, The Hub provides learners with the knowledge and experience needed to achieve their ambitions and support the region’s future growth.
As The Hub enters its third decade, DN Colleges Group remains committed to developing local talent, supporting employers and creating opportunities for future generations across Doncaster and Scunthorpe.
