Inspiring performance: HPC sparks momentum at World of Triathlon LIVE 2026

Posted: 31 March 2026

The University Campus Doncaster (UCDon) High Performance Centre (HPC) inspired athletes, students, and sport enthusiasts alike at World of Triathlon LIVE inaugural event, held at ExCeL London on 28–29 March 2026. As the UK’s premier triathlon and multisport exhibition, the event united more than 100 leading brands, elite coaches, sports scientists, and athletes of all abilities for two days of innovation, education, and community spirit.

A weekend fuelled by learning, energy, and connection

The atmosphere at World of Triathlon LIVE was electric. Attendees immersed themselves in hands‑on workshops, training insights, inspirational talks, live demonstrations, and opportunities to test the latest technologies in swimming, cycling, and running.

From in‑depth technical workshops to motivational discussions led by elite athletes and industry leaders, the event championed the message that triathlon is a sport for everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned podium chasers.

The Expo also highlighted inclusive participation, with features supporting women in triathlon, adaptive athletes, youth programmes, and newcomers looking for guidance as they prepare for their first race.

HPC showcases elite sport science with British Triathlon by their side

The UCDon HPC stand quickly became a vibrant hub on the exhibition floor, offering visitors a rare chance to experience treadmill and bike‑based VO₂ max testing using elite‑level metabolic equipment normally reserved for professional performance environments.

This year, HPC proudly delivered a series of collaborative sessions in partnership with British Triathlon, extending the centre’s influence beyond Doncaster and highlighting its growing presence within national endurance sport.

Together, HPC staff delivered two key sessions:

  • Nutrition and fuelling for triathlon performance
A practical, athlete‑focused session exploring how strategic fuelling supports training consistency, race‑day execution, and long‑term development.
  • Lifting the hood on your performance: Tuning the human car
An engaging deep dive into how metabolic data, biomechanics, and performance diagnostics can create personalised training pathways.
This session was also selected for delivery on the event’s Education Stage, placing HPC’s expertise in front of a wider audience hungry for performance insights.

Students at the heart of applied Sport Science

In true HPC spirit, Sport, Health and Exercise Science staff played an active role throughout the weekend, supporting live testing, analysing data, and engaging directly with athletes. This hands‑on experience mirrors the centre’s daily environment at Eco Power Stadium, where students regularly work alongside lecturing staff with professional and aspiring athletes to develop real‑world skills in performance analysis, rehabilitation, and conditioning.

Their presence at the Expo demonstrated not only their capability but their passion, reinforcing the centre’s commitment to developing confident, industry‑ready graduates. Capturing the enthusiasm of the weekend, HPC Programme Lead Josh Wroot shared: “Working alongside the team at World of Triathlon LIVE truly showcased what the HPC is all about,  bringing world‑class sport science directly to athletes and empowering them with knowledge that can transform their journey. Seeing athletes light up when they understood their data, or realised the power of proper fuelling, reminded us why we do this. Our aim is simple: to help every athlete lift the hood on their performance and realise what’s possible.”

HPC’s rising reputation for excellence

The HPC continues to position Doncaster as a centre for progressive sport science and performance development. With facilities offering VO₂ max testing, lactate profiling, speed diagnostics, injury rehabilitation, and elite‑level equipment, the centre enables both students and athletes to train and learn in a true high‑performance environment.

By showcasing these strengths at World of Triathlon LIVE 2026, the HPC has demonstrated nationally that it is home to world‑class expertise, cutting‑edge technology, and a growing community of passionate sport science practitioners.
