What is your story?
I decided to study at Doncaster University Campus as they offered the topic I was passionate about, based online. This worked best with my full time job. I struggled a lot with mental health during the course but the college and staff were fantastic, offering counselling services, one to one support when needed during assignments and offering support all round. I’m not sure I would have achieved without the fantastic staff. It was really great to work through things at home with all the content available early, it fit well into my routine. Advice to future students would be to speak up early if you need help, they are there to help. Even if you think you can’t do it, you absolutely can, I proved myself wrong, they can too.
What are you up to now?
I am currently teaching in further education teaching vulnerable learners and SEN students. I am taking on more responsibilities such as redefining portfolios to better scaffold for learners of all abilities. I am applying for teacher training courses and looking to complete my PGCE next. I want to make a changes in education for learners with SEN, ensuring they have all accommodations they need in the classroom.
