Academic Development and Pastoral Team
The ADAPT (Academic development and pastoral team) are on hand to support you throughout the duration of your course. The team can assist you with many aspects of your degree such as developing academic writing skills, referencing, time management, researching methods and IT support. This support is available on a one-to one or a group basis and is tailored to meet your needs. In addition to this, a range of resources have been developed for you to use at your own disposal, these are available on the ADAPT Canvas page once you have enrolled on your course. We recommend you visit the page and become familiar with the resources.
We also offer confidential pastoral and wellbeing support, which can be conducted either in person or over Microsoft Teams. A range of resources are also available on the ADAPT Canvas page providing helpful strategies and tips to support you throughout your studies.

Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA) provides extra help for students who have on-going health conditions, sensory impairment, mental-health condition or specific learning difficulty. DSA is available for both full time and part time students and is awarded to meet individual needs.
You are eligible to apply to DSA if you have a:
- Long term medical condition such as fibromyalgia or Diabetes
- Learning disability such as dyslexia
- Mental health condition such as anxiety and depression
- Physical disability such as a vision or hearing impairment
You may be entitled to specialist one to one support, equipment such as a laptop and specialist software, a printing cost allowance and help with travel costs.
