BSc (Hons) Sport Exercise and Health Science (Distance Learning ) Top Up

The sport exercise and Health science degree programme has been designed to prepare our graduates for the world of work and graduating students will be well equipped to enter employment in a variety of sport related settings. Not only will students gain industry standard skills, working with lab equipment, and working in sport related fields, but students will also gain a plethora of transferable skills that will help our graduate succeed in many fields of employment.

The programme offers a multi-disciplinary approach to studying and applying knowledge of sport and exercise in a health, educational and professional context. Opportunities are also provided to specific study areas of interest through the completion of a dissertation. This new online degree programme not only prepares you fully for the world of work with sport, health and exercise, but allows you the flexibility to work alongside your education provision. This Top Up degree is aimed at anybody who already holds a foundation degree or HND. This degree is validated by the University of Hull.

This course includes the following core modules that all students complete:

The sport exercise and Health science degree has been designed to give graduates a wide range of skills across multi disciplines. We have a mixture of practical modules and theoretical modules. (Modules subject to change)

  • Dissertation (Major Independent Research Project)
  • Physical Activity and Disease
  • Talent Identification and Development
  • Applied Sports Psychology
  • PE & Coaching

Occasional changes to modules and course content may take place. Students will be notified when applicable.

The primary way of delivering this course is off campus Distance Learning. Teaching  includes a combination of video lectures, small group discussion, workshops and one to one discussions/tutorials with your tutor.

We use a large variety of assessments at the University Campus Doncaster. These range from traditional essay style assessments, to lab work, and novel assessments such as website creation. These have all been designed with the dynamic sport industry at minds, to help prepare you for the real world and gain employment.

You’ll need to have one of the following:

Foundation Degree Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences- 240 CATS points Foundation Degree/HND in a relevant Sports related area Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL). We welcome applications from people of any age who might not meet the standard entry criteria, but we would expect to see evidence of continuing academic and/or professional development and a capacity to pursue the course successfully.
